Ciao, I'm Amby!

Updated: May 11

Buongiorno & benvenuto to Travel With Amby. I'm so happy you're here. You may be wondering, what's this blog all about? Let's dive in!

A brief introduction:

In June 2022 I spontaneously left Southern California for a solo trip to Europe with nothing more than a backpack. I purposely didn't plan a thing and wanted to see where the universe would take me. Thus began a series of random events that initialized with a Seattle widow and led to a stranger's invitation to a weekend-long party in the Amalif Coast (more on that another time.) On my way to said party in the Amalfi Coast, I met a dreamy Italian man during what was supposed to be a two day stop in Naples. That "short" stop in Naples turned out to be a lot longer than just two days- I'm still here! And oh, do I have so much tea to spill.

Luxury Travel & Hidden Gems

If you're like me, you love traveling, but you hate feeling like a tourist. You want to feel like an "It Girl." I got you sis.

On my third day in Naples, Marco took me boating on a vintage Riva owned by Briggite Bardot. That immediately set the tone for what I new was going to be a bougie adventure ahead. Since that first date, I have met so many people in the luxury hospitality business, and developed a taste for it myself. I've discovered hidden gems, stayed in gorgeous villas, and been greeted with champagne & caviar bumps at the finest hotels. Each month, I will share some of these amazing spots with you to help you plan your next "It Girl" getaway.

Fashion:

When I arrived in Italy, I had been modeling professionally for several years back in the US. I had worked on plenty of print & commercial campaigns, the occasional runway and showroom event, but I had never experienced the world of Italian fashion.

When I moved to Naples, I began networking with designers, photographers, and store owners in an effort to keep my modeling career alive. Little by little, I started getting invited to the occassional shoot here, the occassional showroom there, and now I can confidently say that I have fully the world of Italian fashion- and is it glamorous. The runways and galas aside, the way I carry myself in public has changed since moving to Italy. Gone are the rushing-out-of-the-house-in-sweatpants days, in are the wearing-a-fabulous-coat-just-for-me days. This new level of confidence feels good, and I notice that it stays with me even when I'm back home in California.

Through the upcoming articles, I hope to offer you a glimpse into the world of Italian fashion and suggest styling tips on how you can level up your wardrobe to feel like the classy bi*ch you are.

La Dolce Vita:

La Dolce Vita: The Sweet Life. I won't sugar-coat it, moving to a different continent is like a rollercoaster ride. There are plenty of ups, and plenty of downs. But generally speaking, there are some things that Italians just do right, and it adds a certain sweetness to life. In the upcoming articles, I will share anecdotes about life and lessons learned while living abroad.
