September in Italy: The Pasta-ively Best Month of the Year!

Updated: Feb 14

Ah, September in Italy – the month that makes all other months green with envy! While some may argue that Italy is always a magical destination, there's something extra special about September. Why, you ask? Well, let's dive into the delightful reasons why September is unequivocally the best month to visit Italy.

September is a great time to visit the Amalfi Coast

1. Mild Mediterranean Weather: Gone are the scorching summer temperatures that have you sweating like a meatball in a frying pan. September brings milder, more comfortable weather, perfect for exploring Italy's historic cities and charming villages without feeling like you're being roasted alive.

2. Beaches Without the Crowds: As September rolls in, the summer crowds begin to thin out, making the Italian beaches more inviting than ever. You can finally lay your beach towel without fearing that your neighbor's umbrella is going to poke your eye out. The warm Mediterranean waters are still perfect for a swim, and you can have your own "La Dolce Vita" moment along the coastline.

3. Let the wine flow: September is the grape-harvesting season, and you know what that means – wine, glorious wine! The vineyards across Italy are buzzing with activity as the grapes are plucked from their vines to create the world's finest wines. At Marisa Cuomo Winery in the Amalfi Coast, you can sip on a glass of Fiorduva while gazing at the picturesque Mediterranean sea. Not too shabby, eh?

4. Cultural Extravaganza: Italy is a country steeped in history and culture, and September is the month when you can truly immerse yourself in it. From the Venice Film Festival to local food festivals celebrating everything from truffles to figs, there's a cultural event for everyone. Every September 19th, Neapolitans celebrate the Feast of San Gennaro, the patron saint of the Napoli. On this day, many catholics go to the church to witness the liquefying of San Gennaro’s blood, an event that is believed to signify a miracle and helps protect Naples from disasters, such as the eruption of Mount Vesuvius.

So, there you have it – September in Italy is a magnificent medley of warm weather, nice beaches, wine, and culture. It's my favorite month; it will leave you with memories sweeter than tiramisu. Do I sense a 2024 trip to Italy in the works?

Un bacio,
